Royal Family LIVE: ‘Real danger’ of Prince Harry and Meghan’s Colombia trip exposed
A royal commentator has pinpointed the main danger faced by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during their Colombia trip.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in Colombia on Thursday on their first visit to the South American country. They will take part in several events promoting mental health for young people and how to combat cyberbullying, the office of Colombia’s vice president said.
The couple were invited by the country’s vice-president, Francia Marquez. Harry and Meghan are being given a full security detail throughout their visit in what has been dubbed a DIY royal tour.
GB News host Patrick Christys was critical of the couple’s choice for a tour and accused them of “hypocrisy” referring to their ongoing battle with the UK government over their security in the UK, adding that the main danger for them is their link to the vice president.
He told Sky News Australia: “The idea that he [Prince Harry] and Meghan Markle would not be safe on the streets of Britain is absolutely ludicrous. And the hypocrisy is that he won’t bring back his family even for the funeral of his uncle, because he doesn’t feel safe here, but he will take Meghan to the cocaine-fuelled murdering kidnap hotspot of Bogota.
They are visiting as guests of the vice president. Might be worth noting that vice president has to take a black hawk helicopter to work, after a series of bomb threats.
Meghan Markle defended over ‘sad’ and ‘shameful’ family situation
Meghan Markle has been defended by a royal expert after a fundraiser was set up for her father, Thomas’s birthday.
Thomas Markle, who has been estranged from the Duchess of Sussex since 2018 after a paparazzi incident, celebrated his 80th birthday on July 18.
Author and royal critic Lady Colin Campbell had set up a GoFundMe page the same month to show Meghan’s dad that “there are still good people” in the world, describing him as “rejected and abandoned”, with the fundraiser receiving over £56,000, after its initial target was set at £10,000.
But royal expert Jennie Bond blasted the move and labelled it a “ridiculous idea” – and has instead argued that it was a move to trouble “make Meghan look bad”.
Meanwhile, Express.co.uk spoke with Lady C, who dismissed Ms Bond’s claims and stressed that her fundraiser was set up to show Mr Markle there are still people out there “who care”
Royal fans united over Meghan Markle’s major fashion blunder with third outfit on trip
Meghan Markle left royal fans unimpressed with one of her outfits in Colombia.
The Duchess of Sussex donned three outfits in total on day one of her and Prince Harry’s quasi-royal tour in the South American country and one of them was not a fan favourite.
Harry and Meghan took part in various activities and one of them was a folkloric presentation at the Delia Zapata National Art Centre in Bogota.
Meghan looked chic in a new cut-out dress by Johanna Ortiz (£1,669) – a Colombian designer she regularly favours – featuring a deep slit in the middle and Jimmy Choo’s Etana mules in tan (£675).
However, royal fans did not like the dress’s slit in the middle and some of them deemed it inappropriate for such a visit.
