4 bombshells from Prince Harry’s new documentary including a sad admission about the Royal family
Prince Harry made several bombshells in a new documentary on ITV last night – including the real reason why Meghan Markle won’t return to the UK.
Speaking for the first time since his four-year legal battle against various UK newspapers concluded, Harry, 39, said that he felt “vindicated” by a recent phone hacking court ruling – referring to the entire thing as a “monumental victory.
Ahead of the airing of the new documentary, Harry sat down with ITV’s Rebecca Barry to discuss everything surrounding the legal battle.
Mirror Group has since apologized and taken responsibility – as well as paying compensation for any wrongdoing. The father of two is currently suing News Group, having claimed unlawful actions by reporters and private investigators – something that has been denied by News Group.
Meghan’s UK return
Prince Harry revealed that the behaviour of the British tabloids is one of the reasons why Meghan Markle won’t return to the UK.
Speaking to Rebecca Barry, Harry raised concerns that a lone attacker could target his family – including his wife and their two children – if they were to return to the UK. Meghan has not made a return to the UK since September 2022. This visit also saw the couple attend the late Queen’s funeral on September 19, 2022.
The couple had also made a visit to the UK in June 2022 for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. This visit saw them travel with their children, now aged five and three. Like their mum, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have also not made any more visits to the UK since 2022.
There has also been added speculation that Meghan’s unpopularity, as well as the ongoing battle to restore their taxpayer-funded security could be behind Meghan’s no-show in the UK.
Royal Family’s rift
Prince Harry also admitted that his determination had played a part in his ongoing feud with the Royal Family.
Unlike his brother, Prince William made the decision to settle his own media claim out of court.
Ms Barry asked Harry: “To what extent do you think your determination to fight the tabloids destroyed the relationship with your family?”
Harry replied:”Yes, I think that’s a central piece to it. But it’s a hard question to answer because everything I say about my family results in a torrent of abuse from the press…”
The 39-year-old also sent an apparent olive branch to his family, saying that it would “nice if we did it as a family.
Harry’s ‘constant surveillance’ comment
Harry also made a complaint about being under “constant surveillance” in his younger years.
He told Ms Barry: “It sucks being that young and being under constant surveillance”.
According to royal fans, many had chosen to switch off – especially after this complaint by the Duke of Sussex.
Taking to social media, one fan commented: “I couldn’t stand it! Complete switch off”, with another stating that “no one should watch it.
Princess Diana
Following the late Princess Diana’s tragic death in 1997, claims were made that the much-loved royal believed that her phone calls were being tapped
Speaking in his new documentary, Harry asserts that his late mother was “absolutely right” to have had such concerns.
He said: “You know, same with my mother.
“There is evidence to suggest that she was being hacked in the mid-1990s, probably one of the first people to be hacked and yet still today, the press, the tabloid press, very much enjoy painting her as being paranoid.
