Emma Raducanu is officially back into the top-100 for the first time in 15 months after improving 41 spots on the updated WTA rankings list and getting to No. 94 in the world.
Raducanu, a former world No. 10, exited the top-100 just before having three surgeries in 2023 May and she was ranked outside the top-300 when her comeback started earlier this year.
In early June at the start of the grass season, Raducanu was the 209th-ranked player in the world. But after reaching the Wimbledon round-of-16, as well as being a semifinalist in Nottingham and an Eastbourne quarterfinalist, the 21-year-old Briton improved in a total of 115 spots and went from being No. 209 to ranked at No. 94.
Since Raducanu doesn’t have a point to defend for the rest of the year, all the chances are that her ranking rise will continue.
Where’s Raducanu next chance for some ranking points?
On July 1st, a WTA 500 tournament in Washington is kicking off and that will be Raducanu’s first tournament of the summer on hard courts.
And going into Washington, Raducanu feels heavily confident.
“I beat two top-10 players within two weeks [Jessica Pegula in Eastbourne and Maria Sakkari in Wimbledon third round], which is a pretty big deal for me, seeing as the whole US Open even I didn’t play one top-10 player,” Raducanu said when reflecting on her grass season.
“I think I have to take confidence from that. Six months ago when I was starting out after surgery, I would have signed for fourth round at Wimbledon.
“Of course I’m disappointed. Of course I want more. I think everything does happen for a reason. It just fuels the fire and makes me more hungry. You don’t want things to happen too easily and too quickly. I had that before [with US Open success]. I don’t necessarily want just a massive spike.
I think I’m working there, tracking in the right direction. That desire and fire is back. I just want to keep building on that.
